ONU is hosting 66 middle school girls this week for Camp GEMS to learn about careers in engineering, math, and science through workshops with faculty and ONU students.

Ohio Northern students and athletes will return to campus in August and be greeted with new and improved weight room equipment in the ONU Sports Center.
The free weights, supplied by Legend Fitness Company, are available to students, faculty and staff during normal Sports Center hours.
"We are very excited about the improvements that were made to the weight room this summer," ONU director of athletics Tom Simmons said. "We believe they will better serve the need of the campus community and our student/athletes."

Greg Horne, former chief of police for the City of Findlay, began his duties as director of the ONU department of public safety in January.
He was with the Findlay department for 32 years, the last 8 as chief. Since heading ONU security, he has instituted several changes and plans more.

At age twenty-five, I said, “I do” to the vow of “in sickness and in health.” I remember looking at my soon-to-be-husband, Darren, and thinking, “no problem.” He had been a national champion wrestler in college and still was in prime athletic form. When he carried me over the threshold on our honeymoon, I had no idea that in twelve years, I’d be carrying him on my back up the stairs of our home.

The Polar Bears will take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 pm to open the season.
From there, Northern will compete in the Mount Saint Joseph Tip-Off Classic where it will take on Washington (Mo.) on Nov. 25 and Case Western Reserve on Nov. 26.
The home portion of the schedule will begin on Nov. 29 as ONU plays host to Alma (Mich.) at the ONU Sports Center at 8 pm.
