The following students from Hardin County were named to the ONU Dean’s List for spring semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must attain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled full-time.
Colten Lee Abbey, age 15, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 4:24 a.m. at his residence.
He was born on February 11, 2002 in Lima, Ohio to Mike and Jessy (Reffitt) Abbey and they survive in Harrod.
Colten was a freshman at Allen East High School, where he was a member of the football team, track team, wrestling team and a member of the student council. He was a member of the Harrod Christian Church. Colten was a member of the Harrod Christian Youth Group. He was a member of the Auglaize Ag 4-H Club.
Natalie Garver Walton, Ada Public Library youth services director, updated Ada Area Chamber of Commerce members on this summer's reading program. She compared the summer program to a summer camp. The early June kick off attrached several hundred visitors.

She and her family travelled about 500 miles from eastern Pennsylvania to see the "Thank You Ada" performance put on by the corps on Sunday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
This is AJ's second year with the corps. This fall he will be a junior at Penn State.
Many family members of the Cadets travel long distances to see the corps perform from coast to coast during the summer.

After careful consideration, and the recommendation of Garmann/Miller Architects-Engineers, the Board of Trustees of the Ada Public Library awarded a contract to Studer-Obringer, Inc. of New Washington, according to Rhett Grant, library director.
Funding for the renovation and addition comes from a dedicated fund.
The addition on the northeast side of the library will add some much needed space. Additional parking will be added, as well as an outdoor reading area.
"We hope to begin construction in two weeks, and finish within seven months," said Grant.
Trevor Jones will show library patrons how to better photograph people. The free program, which will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Ada Public Library, is for people of all ages.
Jones, who has been photographer/digital asset manager at ONU for the past three years, said, "No matter what kind of camera you have, we'll look at how to take better photos of family and friends."
"The presentation will serve as a beginners guide to setting your camera and placing your subject to take the best photo in different environments," he explained.
Jones, an award-winning photographer, served as a newspaper photographer and photo editor before coming to ONU.
