Sam Norris, director of the Mary Lou Johnson Hardin County Public Library, has promised to dress up as Buddy the Elf and read a Christmas story live on Facebook if the United Way of Hardin County meets its one day goal of raising $1,000 on November 30, a.k.a. Giving Tuesday.

Ada Exempted Village Schools issued this reminder: November 30 is a 2-hour early release for students.

All students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. There is no after school tutoring program.

Loren E. Riblet, age 74, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 4:35 a.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 12, 1947, in Wayne County, Ohio to the late Glenn and Esther (Calame) Riblet.  On June 8, 1968, Loren married Bethany J. Miller and she survives in Ada.

Loren owned and operator Riblet Packaging Company.  He attended the Assembly of God Church in Carey.

Vicki I. Cheney, age 70, passed from this natural earth on the morning of November 28, 2021.

Vicki was born March 10, 1951, in Lima, OH to Russell D. and JoAnn Kent. She graduated from Ada High School and returned to her alma mater as a Cook for many years and fed many of her “bonus kids.” Vicki married Larry G. Cheney on January 22, 1972. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage January 22, 2022.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Larry, two children, Larry (Jane) Cheney and Jessica Rodgers, five grandchildren, Taylor (Coby) Goble, Kenna (Eric King) Cheney, Austin Cheney, Kalil Rodgers and Kyson Rodgers and one great grandchild, Kinsleigh Goble.

Joseph Richard Zeller, 42, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2021.  Joe was born October 12, 1979 in Lima to the late Richard and Margaret (Hotz) Zeller.  On October 3, 2015 he married Ashley Winegardner Zeller.

Rev. Forest “Ed” Jarrell, age 76, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 2:25 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on September 2, 1945, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Wesley and Louise (Mullins) Jarrell.  On July 24, 1965, Ed married Linda J. Curtis and she survives in Ada.   

Also surviving are his two sons: Brian (Deborah) Jarrell of Lima and Shaun (Shana) Jarrell of Lima; six grandchildren: Logan, Holly, Trevor, Hailey, Hunter and Hannah; and a brother and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
