Two ONU sororities will have charity events this weekend for the campus and community.


Alpha Xi Delta will sponsor a bake sale to support autism. The sale will be held during a double header baseball game at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at the baseball field.


Zeta Tau Alpha will have its 8th annual Race for the Ribbon 5K starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 26, on the Tundra. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. with corn hole, face painting, games, and pizza. The 5K supports breast cancer education and awareness.

Russell Gray organizes the 160 new banners he helped install on the light posts on Main Street. The banners cost $60 each. Individuals, organizations, and businesses who wish to sponsor a banner or two may contact the village office at 419-634-4045 for details.

In an interview with Tom Miller, Chief of the Ada Liberty Ambulance District, we learned how many runs they make, how it is funded and organized, and how fully equipped it is to serve residents of the village and township.

How many runs do you make?
Nearly 600 annually.

Where do you get the money to operate?
Mostly by billing private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid. There is an Ada/Liberty tax levy. We receive some gifts and grants. We get donations from ONU, and they work very well with us.

“Oklahoma!” comes to the Ada school auditorium this weekend.

The popular musical’s performances are Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are on sale at the door and at the high school office.

Ohio Northern University has been selected as the primary spring training site for The Cadets, one of the oldest and most honored continuously operating drum and bugle corps in the country.

The Cadets will rehearse on campus from May 14 to June 15. A program of Youth Education in the Arts, the group has members from all over the country and world.

During their time on campus, the corps will practice daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rehearsals at Ohio Northern’s Dial-Roberson stadium will be open to the public. Visitors should park at Wander Field due to construction on Klingler Road.
