The Icon recently had a brief chat with four Ada juniors, Alissa Schlachter, Sydney Hartford, Shelbey Van Atta and Cheyenne Wells. Here are some of the high points of our conversation.
What do you remember about first grade? Alissa: I sat behind Shelbey. Sydney: Shelbey and I have been friends since kindergarten. Cheyenne: Miss Daniels was our teacher.
Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 20th annual ONU Holiday Spectacular from Thursday, Nov. 20, to Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m.
In addition, there will be performances at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.
The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance announced the 28th annual Christmas Around the Square event was a big success. The courthouse was filled with craft and gift vendors on all three floors. The annual auction featured thirty unique baskets which were donated by Alliance member businesses. More than $4,900 was raised during the event. Saturday is your chance to have a book purchased and signed by Ada author Lynne Scott.
Her newest novel has a signing party from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Cask Room, 127 S. Main St., in the former location of Gardner Drug Store.
Her latest novel, “Love in Small Doses,” is the story of a small town pharmacist and the changes she and the town experience when a large retailer moves in for competition.
Copies of Scott’s earlier novels will also be available for purchase at Saturday’s signing.
