Tom Howell worked for Ray Industrial

It is with great regret, the family wishes to inform you, Thomas D. “Tom” Howell, age 85 1/2, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.    

He was born on June 17, 1936, in Lima, Ohio to the late David C. and Margaret (Newland) Howell.  On October 3, 1969, Tom married Beth A. Ray and she survives in Ada.  

Also surviving are his two children by a previous marriage; a brother Douglas (Karen) Howell of Liberty Center; a sister, Vicki Hall of Lima; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Gary Hattery of Cridersville.

Tom worked at Nameplate and Monogram in Spencerville, Teledyne Ohio Steel in Lima, the Lima Army Tank Plant, Art Kun Company in Toledo, and retired from Ray Industrial in Van Wert.  He was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ.  Tom was an avid sportsman and hunter. He loved motorcycles and cars and could fix anything.  

A special thank you to St. Rita’s Medical Center nurses: Dakota, Rose, Mady and Dani for the special care at the end of Tom’s life; also, to the team of doctor’s involved with his care, especially Dr. Todd Hixenbaugh for his care throughout the years.  

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.  The funeral service for Tom will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.                                

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Rescue Mission and/or the charity of the donor’s choice.
