Janet A. Brown worked at Shawnee Manor
Janet A. Brown, age 68, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 3:43 PM at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on December 24, 1953, in Lima, Ohio to the late Frank Perkins and Norma Jean (Smith) Layne. She was raised by her grandparents the late, Fred and Amanda Jane Perkins her entire life.
Janet was a certified nurse’s assistant at Shawnee Manor, Lima. She attended the Independent Baptist Church, Cridersville. Janet’s passion was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved her family dearly. She was a loving and protecting mother, and a dear friend to many.
She is survived by her children: two sons: David (Christy) Gibson of Mt. Cory and Billy Gibson of Latham; two daughters: Becky Gibson of Latham and Joy Brown of Lima; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; eight brothers: Billy Ray Workman, Lee (Debra) Perkins of Harrison, MI, William (Alisha) Perkins of Louisville, KY, Freddie (Kim) Perkins of Viper, KY, David (Malinda) Layne of Cold Water, MI, Bobby Lane of Coldwater, MI, Danny Lane of Cold Water, MI and Doug Layne of Cold Water, MI; and seven sisters; Donna Stephens of Lakeland, FL, Debora (Ray) Williams of Lakeland, FL, Kayla Perkins and Ashley Perkins both of Lima, Jessica Perkins of Alabama, Gennieve (Stewart) Turpin of Colon, Judy Layne of Cold Water, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her two daughters: Sonja Meddock and a newborn; her late husband, Joe Brown, and the father of her four children, David Gibson; sister, Rosa Miller; and a grandson, Marcus.
It was Janet’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God, 1047 State Route 235, Ada, Ohio 45810.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
