In cooperation with Ada schools, the Ada Icon will post each of the Ada High School class of 2020 seniors in the spotlight. Tyson Moore is today's senior in the spotlight.

We lost count of the vehicles in the 20-plus minute parade at Vancest on Wednesday. Don Traxler's estimate was 100. We'll take his number. Cars, trucks, mowers, tractors, police cars, fire trucks, with an assortment of well-wishers honking horns and carrying signs celebrated National Nursing Home Week by parading around the Vancrest parking lot to the thrills of Ada seniors who up to this moment were in lockdown. Ohio Northern senior Gabby Stewart (Union, Ky./St. Henry) was named Academic All-District 7 in softball in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Stewart, a catcher majoring in nursing, was hitting .393 with three home runs and nine RBI though 10 games this season before the campaign was stopped on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She was named 2nd Team All-Central Region and 1st Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference as a junior and was named Second Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference and was named to the All-OAC Tournament Team as a sophomore in 2018.

Stewart is also a 3-time OAC Hitter of the Week honoree.

Hosted by United Way of Hardin County, West Ohio Foodbank, Ohio National Guard

The United Way of Hardin County, The West Ohio Foodbank, and The Ohio National Guard will be host a community food distribution next week at the Hardin County Fairground.

This non-contact food distribution will be Monday, May 18, from 2 – 4 p.m., or until food runs out. 

Valid ID showing Hardin County residency and at least 18 years of age. 

Trunk of vehicle must be cleaned out and all occupants must remain in vehicle.

Limit of 2 families per vehicle served. 

Andrew Ross, an Ada High School graduate, is among area students graduating from Ohio State Lima this spring. His name was omitted from an earlier list of local graduates. He holds an Associates of Arts degree.

Josh Klein, math teacher, is featured speaker

Ada High School seniors, their families and the Ada community are invited to participate in the 2020 Ada High School Baccalaureate service held virtually Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m.  

This year’s Baccalaureate address, “What’s a Motto with Mr. Klein? Life Lessons for the Class of 2020” will be given by Josh Klein, Ada High School math teacher.  

The service will include the traditional faculty, community and pastoral blessings as well as the graduate slide show.
