Joseph Bischoff, 70, died July 13, 2019, at 5:45 p.m. at his residence in rural Ada, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 10, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Robert J. and Eloise (Walker) Bischoff. On Dec. 19, 1970 he married Anita (Christopher Berkshire) and she survives.
Joe was a 1966 graduate of Ada High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Urbana University. He was part owner of Highway Oil Company, a family business, for over 20 years and co-owner of the Highway Animal Farm.
Chef Tim Cooper, executive chef at Birchaven Village, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will be the featured presenter at the 2019 Salsa! Salsa! event.
The community event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 4 -6 p.m. at the Hancock Farmers’ Market, 200 West Main Cross Street (Findlay).
Chef Cooper will be presenting a live demonstration of salsa preparations and other preparations. Each attendee will receive a complimentary recipe card from his personal cookbook and tasty samples.
“I enjoy the excitement of cooking for people and adding vibrant, new flavors to menus,” Chef Cooper shared, “There’s nothing that’s off limits.”
Get your hair cut for a good cause by Redd Harris on Sunday, August 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Hays Insurance parking lot. Donations should be $10 or more per cut, and all proceeds go to Ada's BOOTS for Bulldogs.
The BOOTS for Bulldogs is a drive by local mothers to increase safety and security to our school classrooms. The mothers heading up this are Kristin Purdy, Hillary Buxton, and Amanda Henson.
Simplicity is The BOOTS' strength. It can be put in place on a classroom door at a moment’s notice by anyone of any age.
So far, the drive has raised $26,055 of $44,000 needed to keep danger out and allow safety in.
FROM THE ONU PETTIT COLLEGE OF LAW FACEBOOK - Maggie Kimmel, L-3, was one of eight Ohio law students chosen by the Ohio State Bar Association to participate in the new Rural Summer Clerkship Initiative.
Through the program, she is working in Zanesville at Gottlieb, Johnston, Beam, and Dal Ponte, PLL.
“There are eleven attorneys who work at this general-practice firm and each one has a different focus,” she said. “I am loving the opportunity to dabble in all areas of the law so I can figure out what area I would like to focus on for my own practice after graduation.”

Ethan Daniels, Ada swim team member, was recognized during this past weekend’s Western Ohio Aquatics League champions in Bluffton.
He was among 24 high school grads who competed for the final time in the WOAL meet. Daniels was the lone Ada swim team member who graduated this year, as the team is loaded with young talent.
Here are several photos of Ethan at the league meet. He earned a medal in the 15 and over boys’ breast stroke.
The Ada Gators finished fourth in the eight-team meet.
