Playing in McGuffey, the Ada High School girls basketball team ran out to a big early lead and went on to rout arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley 64-36 in a non-league makeup game Saturday afternoon, February 5.

Lady Bulldog junior guard Courtney Sumner poured in 15 of her game-high 24 points in the first half as Ada built a 39-20 halftime lead.

The Bulldog girls won the second half 25-16 as Sumner added nine more points and hit two of her five triples.

Sophomore backcourt mate Olivia Burkhart tallied 15 points with the aid of three treys.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-13 with their second straight victory. The Lady Rams fell to 0-19 with the defeat.

The contest was postponed from January 24.

Ada led 19-7 after the first period as Sumner tallied 10 points with two trifectas.

In the second stanza, Burkhart poured in nine of the 20 Ada points as they built a 19-point intermission bulge. The Bulldogs put the game well out of reach with a 15-6 third period.

Sumner canned two more triples in the final stanza as the rivals played to a 10-10 tie.

Senior Kirsten Poling netted seven points for Ada. Sophomore post Daicy Robinson added five markers. Senior Selena Jordan and soph Katie Sizemore each added four points.

Ram sophomore Patience Cole and Sydney Christensen tallied 10 points apiece. Christensen netted six points in the fourth quarter. Junior Kennedy Hall added eight points.

The Lady Bulldogs canned 23 field goals, sinking 15 two-pointers and eight treys. Ada connected on 10 of 14 attempts from the charity stripe (71 percent). 

The Ram girls connected on 11 field goals, hitting 10 two-pointers with one triple. They converted 13 of 24 free throws (52 percent). 

Ada swept both games from USV this season.
