Raymond Binkley was a U.S. Army veteran
Raymond Russell Binkley, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 7:36 p.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 29, 1947, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Darrel and Audrey (Barry) Binkley. On April 27, 1969, Raymond married Sharon K. Gudakunst, who preceded him in death on November 1, 2012.
Raymond had two daughters: Amy (Rob) Cordrick of Florida and Brandy (Bill) England of Ada. He had nine grandchildren: Justin (Emily) England, Lucas England, Levi England, Raina England, Micheal Conner All of Ada and Sarah Conners of New Jersey, Avery Cordrick, Emily Cordrick, and Rebecca Cordrick all of Florida. two bonus grandchildren: Madison Richards and Kyle Zimmerly of Ada. three great grandchildren: William Conners of New Jersey, Harper Conner, and Noah Conner of Ada. Two siblings: Carey (Violet) Binkley of Tennessee and Tana Walker of South Carolina and a brother-in-law, Don (Darlene) Gudakunst of Florida.
Raymond was a graduate of Ada High School. Ray was a member of County Line Church of the Brethren for over 30 years and currently attended Ada Family Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he took pride in serving his country. Ray had a teaching certificate in auto body, specializing in painting at Apollo Career Center. He worked at Binkley's Body Shop for many years along with his father Darrel Binkley. He was known by many as one of the best auto painters and took pride in teaching many his trade. He was an insurance adjuster for many years at Casualty Appraisal Services and later retired from Superior Coach of Lima. For much of his life he enjoyed working on pocket watches and clocks. Ray's best quality was his loving heart, he always made sure to put others first. He cared so much for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, this is where he spent all his time. Most of the time you could find Ray with a fishing pole or a deck of cards in his hands.
It was Raymond’s wish to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Ada VFW Post #9381, 2147 State Route 235, Ada, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7th at the Ada VFW Post #9381.
