Jalapenos Mexican Grill, 2021 Ada Business of the Year
The Icon stopped by Jalapenos Mexican Grill, 109 S. Main, for a first-hand view and taste of the village’s 2021 Business of the Year, an award made by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.
During a 5 p.m. visit on a Tuesday evening, the Icon witnessed a steady stream of customers: employees on a meal break, families and university students.
Customers walk up to the counter where a chalk board-style sign designates your options: Burrito, Fajita Burrito, Burrito Bowl, Tacos, Salad, Quesadilla and Nachos, which can be ordered with Chicken, Steak, Barbacoa, Carnitas or Vegetarian. Your options are then assembled under your direction. Would you like cheese, sour cream, guacamole? Etc.
Owner and award-winner Julie Thomas notes that fish tacos will be available on Fridays from March 4 until Easter. The restaurant has dine-in and carryout service Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. There is also a Jalapenos at 2507 Shawnee Rd. managed by Thomas’s husband Dave.
Things to know that aren’t on the chalkboard? The restaurant also fills bulk orders. Burritos are a favorite of visiting soccer and football teams. Thomas has filled repeat orders for 85 burritos from the Heidelberg Football team when they play at Ohio Northern University. For more information, call 419-634-0440.
