There's no guessing where you can find this sombrero - it's on top of a Christmas tree in El Campo Restaurant, 204 N. Main St., Ada.  Nicholas J. “Nick” Wright, 36, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at 10:20 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on Nov. 1,1983, in Lima, Ohio, to Randy and Kim (Smith) Wright, they survive in Harrod.  On April 29, 2017, Nick married Rachel McClure and she survives in Alger.

Nick was the manager of the Embroidery Department at Cappie Sportswear of Lima.  He also worked at Colonial Hills Golfers Club and was an avid golfer.

Also surviving are his brother, Adam Wright of Harrod; a sister, Jennifer (Darren) Meeks of Harrod; one nephew; and his father and mother-in-law, Steven and Julia McClure of Alger.

Apollo Career Center will host a Tech Cred Information session, Thursday, Dec. 12, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., in the Apollo Fred D. Goare Room. Over 40 businesses from around the state will be in attendance.

Presenters from Apollo Career Center Adult Education, The Ohio State University, Rhodes State College and UNOH will be sharing information with businesses about their training programs, as well as explaining how the State of Ohio’s Tech Cred program works.

TechCred is an opportunity for businesses to upskill their workforce in technology, and be eligible for state reimbursement.

Both teams sank 16 field goals and seven free throws, but Ada drained one more trifecta (3-2) to provide the difference

Ada girls cagers nip Falcons

ADA - The Ada girls basketball team held off a second half rally by county foe Riverdale to win an intense non-league battle 42-41 Tuesday night.

The victory upped the Lady Bulldog record to 2-3 overall, while the Lady Falcons fell to 3-3 with the close defeat.

Bulldog freshman point guard Courtney Sumner scored eight of the final 10 Ada points to keep the Falcons at bay.

Her left-handed baseline 10-footer gave the purple and gold a seemingly comfortable 42-35 lead with 41 seconds remaining. But feisty Riverdale wouldn't fold. 

Some Christmas shopping options take place in Ada on Saturday.

It's Vancrest's annual holiday craft fair from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, according to Jennifer Line, Vancrest activities director.

The show will include a visit from Santa Claus.  Vancrest is located at 600 W. North St., Ada.

NAPOLEON - Ada senior Klava Katayama won two individual events handily to lead the Bulldog girls to a strong fifth-place finish at the season-opening Napoleon Wildcat Invitational meet Saturday.

Katayama swam to victory in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly events. She won by a whopping 9.04 seconds in the 200 free, and touched the wall 8.74 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the 100 fly.

Ada freshman Carlie Oldfield took fourth in two races, while junior Paige Cole took home a fourth and seventh.
