Girls Harding on Saturday; boys host Spencerville

KENTON - Hardin County rival Kenton blanked visiting Ada 8-0 in girls soccer play Wednesday night.

Ada fell to 0-2 after the defeat, while Kenton improved to 2-0 with the win.

The Lady Wildcats scored early and pushed the ball up the field the entire game, building a 5-0 lead by halftime. They added three more scores after intermission.

"Kenton is a strong team," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "We played defensively for the majority of the match. We managed only four shots on goal."

Ada senior keeper Kenzie Long made 18 saves in goal, while classmate Sidney Gossard stopped 11 shots.

Blanchard Valley Medical Practices, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, recently welcomed Andrius Giedraitis, MD, to the team at Blanchard Valley Pain Management. The office is located within Blanchard Valley Hospital at 1900 S. Main St., Findlay, and Dr. Giedraitis is welcoming new patients.

Dr. Giedraitis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan before earning his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Giedraitis completed his residency in anesthesiology and his fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  

Police recover approximately $50,000 in counterfeit currency along with items believed to have been purchased with counterfeit currency

Ada police broke up a counterfeit ring in Ada on Wednesday, (Aug. 21), according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

The police issued the following report:

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, at approximately 3 p.m., officers of the Ada Police Department executed a search warrant at 102 ½ N. Main St., Apartment 5, Ada, as part of an on-going investigation into the passing of counterfeit money.

Upon executing the warrant, the tenant and subject of this investigation was not home, however officers did recover approximately $50,000 in counterfeit currency along with items believed to have been purchased with counterfeit currency.

The follow report includes some action from the school’s August board meeting and is not officially approved board minutes.

Ada school administrators will receive a 3% salary increase, as a result of action by the Ada school board on Aug. 15. The administrators are listed at the bottom of this story. Also, attached, at the bottom of the story is the entire Staff Notes.

This action follows the board’s approval of three-year agreements with the Ada Education Association and the Ada Classified Association. Those agreements resulted in 3% salary increase approved in May for certified staff and in June for non-certified staff.

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new logo at its Wednesday morning breakfast meeting at the Ada Public Library.

The new logo replaces a logo with several decades of use, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.

“Ada’s chamber board wanted a logo that is bold and modern, yet simple and easy to recognize,” she added.

 The result is a logo with the word Ada in bold face capital letters.

Adding the word, “Ohio”  identifies Ada from nearly 20 Ada villages and cities around the United States. The most familiar being Ada, Oklahoma, and Ada, Michigan. Ada, Ohio, often is confused with Ada, Oklahoma, especially on the internet.
