Everything you need to look out for when buying medications online

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) warn consumers to be cautious when surfing the Internet — especially when purchasing medications.

Your local pharmacist's website is not the same as the unknown and unverified websites the FDA and NABP are warning consumers about. That means there's no concern with engaging with your local pharmacist on his or her pharmacy website.

Women’s results

The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team scored seven consecutive goals and held off a late charge to defeat Heidelberg 12-9 on Wednesday night at Hoernemann Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-5 overall and are 1-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Student Princes fall to 7-4, 1-1.

Junior Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) scored four goals and junior Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had three goals and four assists to lead ONU.

Storr scored with four seconds left in the opening half to break a 5-all tie and give ONU a 6-5 lead at intermission.

Baseball

The Ohio Northern baseball program concluded a home-and-home series with nonconference foe Thomas More (Ky.) Wednesday afternoon, falling 8-5 in a single contest at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

The Polar Bears fall to 9-10 overall this season with the loss. Meanwhile, the Saints improve to a similar 9-10 mark.

With the midweek result, the two programs have split a two-game season series in 2019 after Northern captured a 9-0 victory last Wednesday at Wander Field.

Senior Caleb Thomas (Strongsville) guided the Ohio Northern offense after finishing three-for-five at the plate and tallying a team-high two RBI.

Men's tennis

The Ohio Northern men's tennis team cruised past Heidelberg 9-0 in its 2018-19 Ohio Athletic Conference opener Wednesday afternoon at the University Tennis Courts in Ada.

With the victory, the Polar Bears even their overall record at 6-6 and improve to 1-0 in league action. The Student Princes fall to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 against OAC opposition.

During Wednesday's match, all nine Ohio Northern players recorded at least one win, including two wins each from sophomore Joji Imatomi (Yokohama, Japan/Kamakura Gakuen) and freshmen Noah Elliott(Hilliard/Davidson) and Andrew Cochran (Wooster).

Moving monthly breakfast meetings to the library; next meeting is April 17

Several Ada Area Chamber of Commerce-related events are on the community calendar this month, according to Heather Cox, chamber board president.

These were announced at the April 3 chamber board meeting.

The chamber’s monthly breakfast meetings have out-grown their Vancrest meeting room. Meeting are now at the Ada Public Library. The next meeting is at 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 17. Breakfast will be provided. The meeting is open to anyone interested in joining the chamber.

Deb Curlis, chamber director, announced that the chamber now has 78 members and it continues to gain members.
