The Ohio Northern softball team posted a 2-1 record on a busy Friday, March 11, during the final day of its spring break trip to The Spring Games in Claremont, FL.
The Polar Bears (4-4 overall) began the day with a 3-2 loss to Catholic (D.C.) on Friday morning and a 4-2 victory over Arcadia (Pa.) on Friday afternoon.
Northern then picked up a game against Westfield State (Mass.) Friday night to help make up for three games lost during the week to rain and defeated the Owls 12-4.
Senior Hannah Rubel (Swanton/Notre Dame) was 4-for-8 with four RBI in the three games to lead the ONU offense.
Rubel was 3-for-3 with three RBI as Ohio Northern pounded out 11 hits and scored in every inning in the 5-inning win over Westfield State. Sophomore MarcQue Harris (Fremont/Old Fort) picked up the win in the circle with 4.0 solid innings of work.
Freshman Katelyn Aldred (Williamsfield, Ill.) had a 2-run single to key a 3-run sixth inning in the win over Arcadia. Freshman Ashley Lenser (Brookville) got the win with a 5-hit complete game, striking out five.
Against Catholic, ONU scored twice in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2-2, but the Cardinals scored in the bottom of the sixth to grab the win.
The Polar Bears will return to action on March 21 with a double header at Alma (Mich.)
