Ralph Spradlin served in the U.S. Army

Ralph M. Spradlin, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 10:15 p.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on June 22, 1936, to the late Frank and Emma (Whitaker) Spradlin. Ralph married Vivian Cochrane and she preceded him in death on September 18, 2008.

Ralph retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked as a mail carrier.  He also drove bus for the Upper Scioto Valley Schools. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an avid fisherman and poker player. Ralph loved his cat, Lady.

Surviving are two granddaughters: Jessica Nichols and Brianna Johnson; six siblings:  Ruth Hutchinson of Alger, Robert Spradlin of McGuffey, Carol Lowery of Belle Center, Richard (Mary) Spradlin of McGuffey, Dorothy (Kelly) Puckett of Kenton and Joe (Linda) Spradlin of Reno Nevada; a special friend, Pat Johnson of Belle Center; and his Indian Lake Shores Community.   

Ralph was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, James (Linda) Spradlin; a great grandson, Adrian Gross; a brother, Paul Spradlin; a sister, Helen Jane Beggs, and an infant sister, Gloria Fay Spradlin.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada with Pastor Amber Rex officiating.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military services conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.  

Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at the funeral home in Ada.    

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Humane Society, Kenton.
