Barbara Ann Engle, age 79, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 4:40 p.m. at Willow Ridge, Bluffton.

          She was born on December 10, 1937 in Auglaize County, Ohio to the late Frank and Thelma (Hadsel) Underwood.  On August 20, 1955 Barbara married Phillip E. Engle and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1998.

          Barbara formerly worked for Essex Wire of Kenton.  She later retired from the Allen County Children Services, Lima.  Barbara was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren of Harrod and a former member of the Order of Eastern Stars of Waynesfield.

No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern swept Mount Union 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament Thursday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

The second-seeded Polar Bears (27-4 overall) were OAC Regular Season Co-Champions and will travel to top-seeded and OAC Co-Champion Otterbein in Saturday's finals at 2 pm.

The third-seeded Purple Raiders fall to 25-5.

Northern is gunning for its league-record 20th OAC Tournament title and is now an impressive 66-14 in OAC Tournament play.

10-match win streak snapped

LIMA - The Ada volleyball team won the first set but dropped the last three to lose to New Washington Buckeye Central in the Div. IV regional semifinals Thursday night at Elida.

The Lady Bulldogs had their 10-match win streak snapped to end their season at 18-8. NWBC (25-1) advances to the regional finals Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Carey.

The Buckettes came from behind to defeat Ada 24-26, 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 and finish the longest tournament run in Bulldog volleyball program history.

The Candy Cane Tour of Homes sponsored by Keep Hardin County Beautiful features two Ada locations and five places in Kenton this year. Decorated in their finest holiday adornment will be:
