MIDDLE POINT - The visiting Ada volleyball team won a four-set battle at Lincolnview Thursday night to secure at least a tie for their third straight Northwest Conference title.

 

The Lady Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17 to improve to 13-7 overall and stay atop the NWC at 7-0 with one match to go. The Lancers drop to 10-10 and 3-4 in the NWC with the loss.

 

The Lady Bulldogs have won 15 consecutive league matches over the past two seasons.

 

Ada often pictures a Bulldog as a fierce animal, and, why not, it's our mascot and we're out to win. But Bulldogs can be cute, lovable, and funny, too. Members of "Polaris," ONU's literary magazine, learned about moveable type printing presses and assembled letters to each spell out a favorite quote. Prof. Melissa Eddings-Mancuso showed the students different types of prints: regular, ghost, reverse, and shadow. Today's printed material is all prepared with the help of computers, whether actually printed on paper or presented to readers online, like the Ada Icon.

The  2016-17 Ohio Northern men's soccer team was dubbed a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic winner after showing success both on the field and in the classroom during the 2016-17 season.

A total of 816 soccer teams (283 men, 533 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Polar Bears posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.40 last season, allowing them to earn the honor for the 10th consecutive season.

Northern returns to action on Saturday evening as it hosts Capital at Kerscher Stadium for Parents Night at 7 pm.
