Bulldog baseball stymies Gophers

By Cort Reynolds

Playing at Ridgeway, the Ada High School baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning at Hardin County foe Ridgemont to defeat the Gophers 9-4 on a windy Friday evening, April 15.

Ada improved to 3-5 with the non-league win over previously undefeated Ridgemont, which fell to 4-1 with the loss.

Bulldog junior hurler Roman Snyder earned the pitching win as Ada hurled its second one-hitter in as many days. He struck out nine over five innings.

Ada broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the third inning. They plated two more in the fifth frame, then stretched the lead to 9-0 with the six-run sixth.

Ridgemont answered with four runs in the home half of the sixth, but it wasn't nearly enough to threaten Ada.

Bulldog senior Kadin Phipps collected three hits, four runs batted in and scored a run to pace the winning offense.

Jacob Sutherly had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one for Ada. Snyder aided his own cause with two RBI, two runs and one hit.

Zach Neiswander doubled home two runs and scored once. Max Puerto scored twice and singled. Ada out-hit Ridgemont, 8-1.
