Playing in Columbus Grove, the Ada High School varsity softball team lost to Northwest Conference rival Columbus Grove 12-1 Wednesday evening, April 21.

Ada scored its only run in the top of the fourth frame as Belah Price singled home Karley Wagner to tie the game at 1-1. 

Grove broke the contest open with a 10-run fourth inning outburst. The last eight runs all crossed home after two outs.

CG bunched together six hits, four walks and a hit batter in their explosive 10-run fourth.

The Ada girls dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the NWC after the run-rule shortened defeat. CG improved to 6-2 and 2-1 in the NWC with the victory. 

"We hit some balls hard, especially to left field, but we only got three hits," said Ada first-year head coach Jeff Bassitt. 

"A lot of the balls we hit hard they caught," he added. "We only had one strikeout."   

CG out-hit Ada, 11-3. Jenna Bassitt, Wagner and Price all singled to collect the purple and gold hits. 

Lauren Fuerst, Isabella Ramos and Jaelyn Mangas each doubled for Grove. Mangas amassed three hits and three runs batted in, while Fuerst and Ramos compiled two hits apiece. Megan Bogart added two hits and one RBI.

Freshman Natilyn McClain hurled the first four innings, and classmate Bassitt pitched the final frame.
