Ada netters play at sectionals

The Ada High School tennis team competed in the Div. II sectional tournament Thursday, May 12 at UNOH in Lima.
Three Bulldogs participated in the singles tournament, while two tandems played in the doubles bracket.
Bulldog senior Dexter Woods easily defeated Gage Buxton of Kenton 6-0, 6-0 in his first match. Woods then lost to eventual semifinalist Max Gaumier of LCC 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16.
Junior Brendan Jameson lost a very close three-setter to Wapakoneta's Connor Coffey in his round of 32 opening match. He fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
Ada junior Amelia Alexander dropped her round of 32 opening match to LCC's Francesco Pasolini by a 6-1, 6-1 count.
The Ada doubles tandem of senior Riley Ferguson and freshman Nate Williams captured their opening round match over Caleb Bledsoe and Devon Story of Van Wert by a score of 6-2, 6-0. They then lost to Mason Stahl and Mac Davis of St. Henry 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
The Bulldog duo of junior Geddes Klingler and senior Isaac Williams lost to the St. Marys team of Cody Hirt and Connor Milner 6-0, 6-0 in round one of the 16-team doubles flight.
No Bulldog advanced to the second day of tournament play on Saturday.
Only sectional semifinalists or top four qualifiers make it to the district round next week.
