Seven Ada students received Lions Club scholarships
On May 25, The Ada Lions Club honored this year’s scholarship recipients. As recipients were announced, these Ada High School students shared their plans following graduation. The club provided a meal to all scholarship recipients and their families, according Bob Simmons, the club's scholarship chairperson.
This year, the Club awarded seven scholarships for a total of $7250.00. One special scholarship award was given in honor of Joe Allen,who began the mulch project in 2000. Kirsten Poling received this scholarship award.
Scholarship recipients are:
Madison Archer - $500
Riley Ferguson - $500
Selena Gonzalez-Jordan - $1200
Carmen Mancuso - $1200
Lucille Wall - $1200
Molly Zimmerman - $1200
Kirsten Poling -THE JOE Allen Scholarship - $1450
Since 2000 the Ada Lions Club has given 110 scholarship awards totaling $100,200 to students at Ada Schools.
The Lions Club in Ada has been in existence for 68 years. Fundraising projects have included annual Lions mulch sales, selling tickets for Ohio Northern University football and basketball games, selling raffle tickets and selling food at the annual Harvest and Herb Festival.
