Ada area delegates to attend 2022 Buckeye Boys and Girls State programs
Ada American Legion Post 185 has selected five area high school juniors to attend Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State programs for 2022.
Buckeye Boys State delegates are
- Abraham Decker, Upper Scioto Valley
- Brendan Jameson, Ada High School
- Leif Trachsel, Hardin Northern
Buckeye Girls State delegates are
- Amelia Alexander, Ada
- Anabelle Lawrence, Upper Scioto Valley
In both programs delegates participate in a week-long "hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government."
Delegates will have the opportunity to run for public offices and serve. Along the way they may have the opportunity to meet real state officials.
Each delegate was selected by the Ada Legion post based on grades, school recommendations, school activities and extracurricular activities. Each delegate must have completed their junior year in high school, but not yet completed their senior year.
Buckeye Boys State will be held June 12-19 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and Buckeye Girls State will be held at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio from June 12-18.
