Women's golf finishes 2nd at Olivet invitational

MARSHALL, Mich.⎯The Ohio Northern University women's golf team opened its 2022 fall season with a second place finish at the 16-team Olivet (Mich.) Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational Friday and Saturday at The Medalist Golf Club.
The Polar Bears (14-1 overall) finished with a 327-327—654 on the 36-hole tournament. That 654 score is the sixth-lowest 36-hole total in ONU history.
Junior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) and sophomore Amelia Burger (Centerville) each posted top-10 finishes to lead ONU.
Honigford was third of 92 players with an 80-76—156 and Berger tied for eighth with a 78-84—162.
Sophomore Rhianna Firmstone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) tied for 14th with an 83-82—165, freshman Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) tied for 24th with an 86-85—171 and junior Rylie Smith (Cambridge/Buckeye Trail) tied for 74th with an 100-92—192.
Bethel (Ind.) won the team title with a 318-306—624, Adrian (Mich.) was third with a 337-325—662 and Hope (Mich.) and Westminster (Pa.) tied for fourth with 671s.
Bethel's Jessica Shurley and Maria Pardo Victori tied for Medalist honors with 152s.
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 17-18 at the Heidelberg Fall Invitational.
