Robert E. Rock, Sr. served in the U.S. Army
Robert E. Rock, Sr., age 81, of Alger, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 7:07 p.m.
He was born on March 11, 1941, in LaFayette, Indiana to the late Howard and Pearl (Kerfoot) Rock, Sr. On May 18, 1963, Robert married Gloria J. Dyer. She preceded him in death one year prior, on the same day as Robert October 15, 2021.
Robert retired from Rockwell of Kenton as an electrician and was also the owner of Rock Electrical Services. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. Robert also preached at the Lima Rescue Mission. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1959-1962.
Also surviving are his two daughters: Ronda (John) Wyomic of Ada and Roberta (Frank) Karfit; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Howard (Sondy) Rock, Jr. of Reynolds, IN; and a sister, Shirley Ingel of LaFayette, IN.
He was preceded in death by three sons: Robert Rock, Jr, Ronald Rock, and Randall Rock; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Karen Rarey officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and/or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
