For the fourth straight year the Arts Advocacy Collaborative of West Central Ohio is looking to once again award members of the area for their contributions to the arts community. Each year three winners are selected under the categories of Creator, Advocate and Philanthropist.
The Creator Award is presented to an artist whose work has made a significant impact on his or her discipline and also shows creativity and imagination that exemplifies the highest level of achievement in a particular discipline while advancing the art form.
On Saturday, October 10, the World Ultralight Fly-In (WUFI) will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the first worldwide ultralight and open air synchronized flying event of its kind.
The Ada airport will be putting four open air aircraft up to aid in attempting a world record, according to Kevin Mierzejewski of the airport.
The event, put together by prominent European and US ultralight pilots is being orchestrated globally in conjunction with Dayton Ultralights and members of numerous Facebook groups and clubs around the world.

The Ohio Northern University International Law Society will conduct a week of activities focused on “Cambodia and Human Rights” beginning Monday, Oct. 19.
The week will kick off with “Cambodia 1979: The World’s First Genocide Trial,” a presentation by guest speaker John Quigley, President’s Club professor emeritus of law at Ohio State University, in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room on Monday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m.
Auditions for the ninth annual Ohio Has Talent! competition will be held Nov. 13-14, 5-9 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert.
Audition applications are available at www.comhealthpro.org and are due by Oct. 30.
The top acts will perform in the March 5, 2016, show at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert. All entertainment talents are welcome including single and group acts. Talents beyond singing and dancing are especially encouraged to audition.
Contestants will compete for prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250. Winners are based solely on votes collected from the audience.
Ohio Northern University will formally dedicate the newly renovated track and field and soccer complex as “Kerscher Stadium” during a ceremony prior to the ONU women’s soccer game against Capital University on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2:15 p.m.
The stadium is named in honor of Robert Kerscher and his wife, Barbara Kerscher. Robert Kerscher, a member of the ONU Board of Trustees, is the founder, retired chair and chief executive officer of Lexi-Comp Inc., an Ohio-based medical publisher.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ohio Northern in 1970 and his MBA from Baldwin Wallace University in 1978. He received an honorary degree from ONU in 2014.
