Women’s Indoor Track and Field posts 9 top-20 finishes on final day of Ashland Open

February 4--The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team posted nine top-20 finishes on the final day of the Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Saturday at Ashland University's Niss Athletic Center.

The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge), juniors J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) and Sydney Goodrich (Romeo, Mich.) and freshman Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay) posted a 13-place finish in 4:24.10.

Sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was 19th in the shot put with a mark of 11.27 meters, and freshman Samantha Roth (Brunswick) finished 19th in the 3,000 with a time of 11:16.48.

Junior Keegan Digby breaks own school record in shot put to lead Men’s Indoor Track and Field on final day of Ashland Open

February 4--Junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) broke his own school record in the shot put in leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team on the final day of the Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Saturday at Ashland University's Niss Athletic Center.

Saturday's accomplishment comes after Digby posted a career-best 17.72 meters in the weight throw in Friday's portion of the meet to rank second all-time at ONU in that event.

Other highlights included a fifth-place finish in the 400 by sophomore Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) in a career-best :48.95, which ranks second all-time at ONU, and personal-best finishes from sophomores Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) and Thomas Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon), senior Brooks Blakeley (Versailles) and junior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) in the 1-mile run.

Serbin scores 21, Luersman hits big 3-pointer to send No. 13 Women’s Basketball to 69-65 comeback win at Capital

February 4--A late 3-pointer from junior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) helped the No. 13 Ohio Northern women's basketball team overcome a 14-point, third-quarter deficit for a 69-65 win over Capital on Saturday afternoon at the Capital Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 19-2 overall and 13-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Comets to 12-9, 6-8.

Ohio Northern out-rebounded Capital by a 31-30 margin and had 21 bench points to CU's six.

The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday for an OAC matchup at No. 14 Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m

No. 16 Wrestling wraps up OAC slate with 6-1 slate after 36-9 victory at Otterbein

February 7--The No. 16-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team wrapped up the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 36-9 victory at Otterbein on Tuesday night at the Rike Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 20-3 overall and finish OAC dual meet action with a 6-1 mark.

The 20 dual meet victories are tied for the second most in school history, trailing only the 22-2 squad of 1977-78.

Northern now sits one-half game behind No. 5-ranked Baldwin Wallace in the OAC standings, who is 5-0 and clinched a share of the OAC Regular Season title with its 36-24 victory over Wilmington on Tuesday. ONU would share the league title with a Mount Union victory over Baldwin Wallace on Sunday.
