Wayne K. Shadley served in the U.S. Army during WWII
Wayne K. Shadley, age 98, of Lima, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 29, 1924, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Justin and Bernlene (Wilson) Shadley. Wayne married Betty Stephens in 1976, and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2016.
He is survived by his son, Allen Shadley of Lima; two daughters: Elena Reedy and Kami Truman both of Lima; two stepsons: Maverick Matthews of Stanton, KY and Shawn Matthews of Lima; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Symonds of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mack Shadley; a brother, Jay Shadley; a sister, Lorene Symonds; and two stepsons: Fred Reed and Dan Reed.
Wayne retired from Randall Bearing, where he worked as a machinist. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during WWII.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Don Clinger officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
