Bulldog baseball run-rules Ridgemont
By Cort Reynolds
Playing at home, the Ada High School varsity baseball squad run-ruled Ridgemont 10-0 in five innings Friday evening, April 14.
Ada improved to 3-5 overall with the victory. Ridgemont fell to 7-3 with the defeat.
“The kids played well,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “Roman (Snyder) pitched strikes and we got timely hits. If we can do that more often, we will see similar results.”
The Bulldogs plated five runs in the bottom of the first to take control early. A two-run single with the bases loaded scored three Bulldogs when the Gopher right fielder misplayed the hit.
Dalton Amos followed with an infield hit.
The Bulldogs tallied four runs in the home third to go ahead 9-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Max Puerto singled. Senior Jacob Sutherly later singled in a run to invoke the 10-run rule.
Snyder pitched five innings of shutout baseball to earn the win.
Ada hosts Hardin County rival Ridgemont (7-2) Friday.
The Bulldogs visit Botkins (4-4) Saturday.
