Katherine Johnson worked for Upper Scioto Valley High School
Katherine J. “Kack” Johnson, age 92, of McGuffey, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 12:20 a.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on June 21, 1930, in McGuffey, Ohio to the late Okey and Cloie (Jordan) Risner. On August 13, 1950, Katherine married James Johnson and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2017.
Katherine retired from Upper Scioto Valley High School, where worked as the secretary. She was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ. She loved attending the sporting events of her children and grandchildren at both USV and Ottawa-Glandorf.
Katherine is survived by her two children: Rex (Janine) Johnson of Ottawa, and Tami (Mike) Hunsicker of Alger; eight grandchildren: Mandie (Kyle) Erford, Brittany (Jeff) McCrate, Tyson (Heather) McGlaughlin, Josh (Emily) Johnson, Carly (Derek) Rieman and Carrington Johnson, Travis (Jessica Lawrence) Hunsicker and Troy (Brandi) Hunsicker; twenty-five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and her four siblings: Mike (Monica) Risner, Gary (Judy) Risner, Janet Kearns, and LaVerne (Claude) Conley all of McGuffey; and a sister-in-law, Lorilla Risner of Kenton.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jayna McGlaughlin; and two brothers: Bud Risner, and Kenny Risner; and a brother-in-law, John Kearns.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with David Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Thursday, April 6th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger
Memorial contributions may be made to USV Alumni Field House (write Johnson in the memo line).
