Ada's Jameson 2nd at tennis sectionals
By Cort Reynolds
Ada senior tennis ace Brendan Jameson finished a strong second in Saturday’s Div. II sectionals in Lima at the UNOH courts.
Seeded second, he got a first-round bye in the 30-player singles flight, and then rolled to the semis with two decisive wins Thursday.
On Saturday, the scrambler won his semifinal match 6-2, 7-5 over Connor Birt of St. Marys.
In the sectional finals he won the first set in a tiebreaker but ultimately lost a tough three-setter 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 to top seed Isaac Wibbeler, also from St. Marys.
“Honestly, I am extremely proud of the way he played,” said Bulldog coach Tyler Christoff. “To be runner-up, he made some Ada history and that is something I got to be a part of. I am proud of him.”
A top-four finish sends an individual to the Div. II district tournament at Bowling Green next week.
