ONU Esports Fall Brawl this weekend
Interested in watching an esports match but have never done so? Fall Brawl, scheduled for this weekend between Ohio Northern University and rival University of Mount Union, will offer an easy viewing opportunities.
From 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, teams will compete against each other via League of Legends (starting at 11 a.m.), Rocket League (1:30 p.m.) and Valorant (4 p.m.). ONU’s Esports program is located in Taft Memorial’s Room 206 and features state-of-the-art gaming spaces, where Fall Brawl will take place.
McIntosh Center’s Activities Room will offer live viewing. Games can also be watched live remotely at https://www.twitch.tv/onu_esports/
“It's a reasonable amount of time for someone to come out and watch the one game,” said Esports Director Troy Chiefari. “Usual esports events are two days long and have multiple teams and a random schedule of when a live spectator could watch, so it's usually difficult to have friends and family come out. Our fix to this is having it be just us vs UMU and a quick series for each game, with the schedule and game easily scheduled for people to come out. Each series should be between one hour to three hours long.”
Fall Brawl is now an annual event between the two colleges. More than 13 ONU students will play and serve on the streaming production team this year.
