Pursuit of man charged with felonious assault ends near Ada

On Wednesday, September 20, officers from the Kenton Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2017 tan Ford SUV, which officers believed was being operated by thirty-five-year-old Wayne A. Tolson, of Kenton. Officers had been searching for Tolson for several days after a warrant was issued by Hardin County Common Pleas Court for violating the terms of his bond. The original charge originated from an F2 felonious assault, domestic violence case, from May of this year, in Kenton.

Once officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it fled westbound onto W. Columbus Street and then westbound onto State Route 309. The pursuit continued westbound on 309 toward Ada.

As the pursuit neared State Route 235, officers from the Ada Police Department attempted to deploy stop sticks at the intersection 309 and 235. Upon reaching the intersection it appeared that the suspect attempted to avoid the stop sticks, losing control of his vehicle and colliding with another vehicle at the intersection.

The suspect, Wayne Tolson, was then taken into custody and soon after transported to Lima Memorial, where he remained in custody. The driver of the other vehicle appeared to be unharmed. Tolson will be held at the Marion Multi-County Jail.

The Kenton Police Department was assisted by Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Ada Police Department, and the Alger and Ada-Liberty EMS.
