Bulldog boys soccer blanks Lima Central Catholic
By Cort Reynolds
The Ada boys soccer team shut out Lima Central Catholic 5-0 to win a non-league road match Monday night, October 9.
The Bulldog record improved to 3-7-6 after the one-sided victory away from home.
The Thunderbirds dropped to 1-13 with the defeat.
Bulldog junior Logan Jolliff scored two goals and passed out one assist to pace the victorious offense.
Junior Nathan Williams tallied a goal and dished out one assist.
Senior Clayton McClain and freshman Andrew Allen each netted a goal.
Ada senior Carson Gossard passed out one assist.
Bulldog freshman keeper Jacob Rush made two saves in goal.
The win was Ada’s first since swamping Tiffin Columbian 12-0 on August 19.
Since then, the Bulldogs had tied six games and lost six. Four of those losses were by one goal and one was by two, so 11 of the 12 matches in that span were very close matches.
The Bulldogs ended up 0-3-1 and fifth in the five-team Northwest Conference standings. Bluffton won their ninth straight NWC title at 4-0, and is 42-0 all-time in league play.
Ada finished 0-1-4 in the rugged North Central Ohio Soccer Association, good for third place in the six-team league due to their unusual total of four ties.
Liberty-Benton won the six-team NCOSA crown at 4-0-1, with Van Buren second at 4-1.
Ninth-seeded Ada hosts 12 seed Pemberville Eastwood (3-11-1) in the Div. III sectional semifinals Wednesday, October 18 at 5 p.m.
