Meet Kaitlynn (Turner) Gerlach, the Ada Schools' K-8 Guidance Counselor. This is her first year working in the Ada Exempted Village Schools.
Q. What is the one thing you cannot resist?
A. Peanut butter.
Q. What is your greatest fear?
A. The ocean.
Q. Where is your favorite place to be?
A. My backyard on a summer day.
Q. Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
A. Wilmington, North Carolina–lots of history, fun non-touristy downtown and beaches that aren’t overcrowded.
Q. What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
A. I gave intro speeches before concerts, musicals, and performances at the. Springfield Arts Council in high school.
Q. What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
A. Dietitian or personal trainer.
Q. Any favorite line from a movie?
A. “What is a legacy? Planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”
Q. Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
A. I sang in a concert with John Legend in high school when I was in choir. He is from my hometown of Springfield, Ohio.
Q. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
A. Brene Brown (researcher and storyteller).
Q. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
A. How to golf well, so I could beat my fiancé/husband.
Q. What are 3 words you’d use to describe Ada Schools?
A. United, spirited, supportive.
Q. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? What is the first thing you would buy?
A. Pay off student loans and buy 10 acres, including woods.
Q. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
A. Call my mom, she’s my best friend.
Q. What is something you learned in the last week?
A. Ada EVS is the top district in Hardin County.
Q. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
A. Weightlifting.
Q. What is the first concert you attended?
A. Not sure, I’ve been to a lot.
Q. What music is on your iPhone/Android phone?
A. The entire Taylor Swift discography
Q. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
A. Laundry
Q. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
A. Adam Sandler
Q. How do you balance your career and family?
A. To be determined…getting married in September and expecting my first baby in March!
