Ada’s Baumgartner advances to two finals at state swim meet

CANTON__Ada High School junior Lily Baumgartner qualified for the finals at the Ohio state Div. II meet with good preliminary showings Thursday, February 22, in both the 100-yard backstroke and 100 freestyle races.
Baumgartner touched sixth in the girls 100 backstroke (55.96) preliminary heats to make it to the A finals Friday night.
Baumgartner also finished seventh out of 32 swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle preliminaries to advance to that A Finals race Friday.
She swam a time of 52.44 despite a sore left shoulder.
The top eight in the prelims of each event advance to the A Finals race. The second eight (places 9-16) qualify for the B Finals, along with two alternates (17-18).
The OHSAA Div. II finals start Friday at 3 p.m. in the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
Baumgartner has committed to swim at Ohio University.
