The March 5 meeting of the Village of Ada Council included a request by Viva Maria restaurant to create a drive–through window, added law enforcement staffing at the June 14-15 fire convention to be held in Ada and details on the 2024 Village paving program.

NEW BUSINESS
Council approved a request from Josie Phillips, secretary for the Ada High School graduating class of 2024 to hang senior banners on Main Street.

Bob Simmons reported on an Ada Enterprise Zone meeting, noting that the tortilla chip factory equipment is up for sale as well as the building. He learned from Wilson Sporting Goods that the new factory will have three assembly lines and the facility will be branding basketballs for the NBA and WNBA.

STREETS COMMITTEE
A request to create a drive-through window for Viva Maria restaurant, 125 S. Main, was presented by owner Susan Fricano.

The window would be located on the one-way alley next to the restaurant. All downtown alleys are one-way, but there would need to be new directional signage. The window would be for pick up only, not for ordering. If a customer’s food was not ready, they would be required to pull around. The topic was to be discussed further at a committee meeting following the regular meeting.

POLICE
Chief Alec Cooper reported that since the last council meeting, the department had 78 calls for service, 9 incident reports and 3 vehicle incidents. Council approved the Chief’s request for additional fire convention staffing of two sheriff’s deputies costing $1,820. Northwestern Ohio Volunteer Firemen's Association organizers will be paying for event security which is separate from this coverage.

VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR
Jamie Hall noted that Village brush chipping has started on the first Monday of every month with a minimum charge of $20. The Village Green Waste site is also open by appointment.

The fall EPA water survey resulted in nine violations; seven have been resolved and two are being addressed. A backflow prevention program is being developed. The Village’s clarifier tanks have been a maintenance issue. Their rebuild is $2M of a $6.2M project and are waiting on funding application results. 

The Village is nearing the end of its contract with Rumpke and will be taking bids on trash and recycling services for the next 3 year period.
