LIMA__ The visiting Ada High School baseball team dominated Lima Temple Christian 10-0 in a non-conference game Monday, May 6.
Ada scored in six of seven innings, all except the second, to post the blowout win.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-12 overall after recording their second win in the last three games. The Pioneers fell to 1-12 after the lopsided defeat.
“The kids are starting to play well,” said Ada second-year head coach Toby Smith. “We are not beating ourselves, and we are giving ourselves a chance to win.”
Freshman Brody Rister fired an efficient two-hit shutout to earn the victory. He struck out eight and walked none over seven innings. Rister threw 76 pitches, 60 of them for strikes or in play, during his complete-game effort.
He also aided his own cause with a two-run single and a stolen base.
Left fielder Mason Wibley drove in three runs with a double and single to pace the eight-hit Ada offense.
Freshman catcher Andrew Allen hit a single and scored two runs.
Junior Max Puerto walked once, stole two bags and scored two runs. Junior Levi Green singled, scored two runs and had one RBI. He also stole a base.
Junior Kaine Fisher smacked a double, singled, scored a run and drove in one run. He also stole two bases.
Blake Zoladz swiped three bases and scored two runs after drawing two walks.
Second baseman Wesley Mowery singled. Junior Ethan Lawrence scored a run.
Ada stole nine bases, and the Bulldogs out-hit LTC, 8-2. Ada took advantage of 11 Pioneer errors to score eight unearned runs.
The Bulldogs left seven runners on base, while LTC stranded four.
Ada plays at non-league foe Waynesfield (7-8) Tuesday. The Tigers have won seven of their last eight games after an 0-7 start.
