Bulldog baseball makeup: 10-0 loss to Lancers

VAN WERT __ The Ada High School varsity baseball team lost at league champion Lincolnview 10-0 in a Northwest Conference makeup game Saturday, May 11.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2-15 overall and 0-8 in the NWC.
The Lancers improved to 16-6 overall and clinched an outright league title at 8-0 in the NWC with the win.
Leipsic finished second in the NWC at 7-1, followed by Crestview (6-2) and Bluffton (5-3). Columbus Grove finished fifth at 4-4, while Allen East, Spencerville and Delphos Jefferson tied for sixth at 2-6.
Lincolnview scored a run in the first inning and added three more scores in the third. They invoked the 10-run mercy rule with a six-run fifth frame.
The Lancers out-hit Ada, 13-3. The Bulldogs committed three errors and the hosts made no miscues themselves.
Max Puerto, Mason Wibley and Wesley Mowery each singled for the Bulldog hits.
Wibley started and pitched three innings for Ada. He allowed seven hits and one earned run, with two walks and a strikeout.
Bulldog freshman Brody Rister relieved and hurled 1 1/3 innings.
Ada stranded four runners, while the Lancers left six on base.
Left fielder Aiden Hardesty smacked a single, double and a triple for the Lancers. He scored two runs and drove in a pair. Second baseman Reide Jackson had three RBI, three steals and two singles.
Third baseman Austin Bockrath contributed two hits, two runs and two RBI.
Lancer pitcher Chayse Overholt struck out nine, walked two and allowed three hits over five innings to earn the win. He aided his own cause by scoring two runs with a single and a walk.
Seeded 11th in its Div. IV sectional, Ada plays at fifth seed Pandora-Gilboa (7-15) in first round action Tuesday, May 14. The winner advances to play at second-seeded Hardin Northern (13-7) Thursday, May 16.
Riverdale (19-6) is the top seed in the Findlay sectional/district.
