George L. “Toby” Coon worked for Top Line/MTS
George L. “Toby” Coon, age 80, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 14, 1943 in Lima, Ohio to the late G. Lyle and Dorothy (Spencer) Coon, Sr. On February 17, 1961, Toby married Sandra S. Coy and she survives in Westminster.
Also surviving are two sons: Patrick (Jeannette) Coon of Harrod and Erik (Rhonda) Coon of LaFayette; two daughters: Dorothy Piehl of Harrod and Kelly (Kevin) Armstrong of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren: Charity Piehl, Adam (Ashley) Piehl, Elijah (Crista) Piehl, Emily Piehl, Ashley (Ryan) Garberson, Seth (Angela) Coon, Zac Armstrong and Spencer Coon; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Toby was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Piehl; a grandson, Jacob Piehl; a great granddaughter, Rylee Grace Piehl; and a sister, Maryann Piehl.
Toby retired from Top Line/MTS, where he worked as a truck driver. He attended the Christian Assembly Worship Center, Lima. Toby was a member of the Westminster Rural Fire Department and EMS for over fifty years.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Westminster Abbey Church, 6650 Faulkner Road, Harrod, Ohio 45850 with Pastor Rich Biclawski and Bob Evans officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at The Westminster Abbey Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Fire Department.
