Summer 2024 events reviewed by council
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The June 18 regular meeting of the Ada Council included several conversations about recent and future events in the Village.
Lindsay Hollar, Director of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, provided her summer update including a request to expand the footprint of the August 24 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival. The Chamber would like to create a large Kids Zone on S. Johnson St., including inflatables and a dunk tank.
Additional items on the Chamber’s calendar are a July 8 ribbon cutting event at the new Wilson Football Factory and the September 21 Harvest & Herb Festival, which is celebrating its 38th year.
Mayor Retterer and Police Chief Alec Cooper reported on the June 14-15 Northwestern Ohio Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention. Retterer said that those who remember the 1974 NOVFA convention might have been a little scared by the group’s return to celebrate its 150th anniversary and founding in Ada. He characterized the convention as “a decent event.” He shared a conversation with firefighters who camped at War Memorial Park; they told the mayor, firefighters “see a lot of things that are difficult to see” and that they needed the opportunity to celebrate their work. Cooper reported that there were only minor issues to handle during the convention.
