Jerry R. Johnson served in the U.S. Army
Jerry R. Johnson, age 81, of Alger, passed away on July 4, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on November 11, 1942 in Auglaize County, Ohio to Howard and Marcielle (Musgrave) Johnson who preceded him in death. On January 17, 1964 he married Kathy A. Compton and she survives in Alger.
Jerry is survived by a brother, William Johnson; and a sister, Joyce Reed.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Mortimer.
Jerry was a building supervisor at Lazarus in Lima for over 27 years. He also worked at the Alger hardware and for Orders’ Construction. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at the County Line Church.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Bill Prater officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, with graveside military services provided by the U.S. Army and the Ada VFW Post #9381.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 10:00 AM-12:00 p.m. on July 9, 2024 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
