Bulldog golfers 9th at DIII sectionals

ARLINGTON – The Ada High School boys golf team finished ninth out of 13 teams in the Div. III sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf Course Thursday, September 26.
Blanchard Valley Conference champion Van Buren won the sectional team championship easily with 301 strokes. Carey was a distant second at 350 strokes, followed by Arcadia (358).
The top three teams made it to districts, along with the top three individuals not on qualifying teams.
Champion VB took the top three spots, as freshman Jacob Schroeder captured tournament medalist honors with a 32-36=68 round.
Ada ended up ninth with 392 strokes. The Bulldogs finished ahead of North Baltimore and McComb (411), Arlington (413) and Pandora-Gilboa (415).
Sophomore Brody Rister led Ada with an 18-hole round of 45-43=88 to finish a strong 14th in the 64-player field. He missed district qualification by just three strokes.
Improved junior Sam Crawford was second for the Bulldogs with a score of 54-46=100. He tied for 35th place.
Sophomore Lawson Klingler was right behind him in a four-way tie for 37th with a scorecard of 52-49=101.
Senior Ethan Lawrence tied for 43rd as he carded a round of 53-50=103 in his final Bulldog match.
Freshman Grady Morgan added a 62-70=132 to finish 64th.
Riverdale’s Nathan Alge finished fifth with an 80 to qualify as an individual. Justin Thiel of Hardin Northern ended up eighth with a round of 82. Blake Moes was the third individual district qualifier as he came in 10th with a score of 85.
