Drive-thru trick-or-treat Tuesday at ONU

Ohio Northern University Residence Life will host a drive-thru trick-or-treat event Tuesday, according to Isaiah Bailey.

It takes placed from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, and here are the details:

"In order to keep everyone safe and reduce the risk of covid-19 transmission, we will host a drive through trick or treat. 

"The community is invited to drive through campus, entering on College Avenue by Cosi, and exiting onto Lima Avenue by the Affinity East Complex.

"Residence Life staff members will line the route, at a minimum of 6 feet apart, and will be dropping prepackaged candy into the bags through the car window using a butterfly net.

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada cross country teams competed in the annual Northwest Conference championship meet Saturday at Columbus Grove.

Host CG won the boys team title with 29 points to easily out-distance second-place Lincolnview (58). Crestview nosed out Bluffton for third-place, 91-93.

The Ada boys finished seventh in the seven-team league meet with 183 points, 31 behind Allen East in sixth with 152.

"We had a great meet," said Ada veteran head coach Josh Klein. "We had several personal records among the group with Melia, Jacob, Robby and Cole and a season personal record from Connor.

While most of the 2020 soybeans are off the field, some farmers have also started removing corn. Here's a scene and video of the corn harvest at State Route 103 and Township Road 52, east of Bluffton from last week. Click here for a short video.

1956 graduate of Ada High School

Carole Jean Tong, 82, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at 8:10 a.m. at Heritage Nursing Home, Findlay.

She was born on July 13, 1938 in Ada to the late William E. and Nellie E. (Lansing) Jett. Carole first married Wilbur D. Shaw and he preceded her in death. She later married Samuel Tong on Jan. 9, 1989, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2014.

Carole was a homemaker. She previously worked as a Home Health Aide as a Nurse Aide and she also was co-owner of Smell’s Good Inc. of Ada. She also worked in several factories: Triplett Corp. of Bluffton and RCA of Findlay and was a dispatcher for the Ada Police Department.
