Idelia Schaad worked for Allen East School
Idelia P. (Barnhart) Schaad, age 98, of Harrod, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
She was born on June 11,1926 to the late Albert S. and Mary (Eagleson) Barnhart. On December 24, 1947 Idelia married Martin H. Schaad and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2020.
Idelia is survived by her five children: Dianna Sandoval of New Mexico, Danny (Wendy) Schaad of Port Clinton, Debra (Steve) Doepker of Lima, Darla (Bob) Ackerman of Harrod, and Dean (Michele) Schaad of Mansfield; daughter-in-law: Melanie Kershner; 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Angela Duncan; and sister-in-law, Hilda Mumma.
She was preceded in death by a son: Dennis Schaad; two grandsons; son-in-law: Billy Sandoval; and four brothers and four sisters.
Idelia worked in the cafeteria for Allen East School. She enjoyed growing plants and loved spending time in her garden. In her later years she painted for craft shows. Idelia loved reading her Bible and sharing her faith with everyone she met. Her favorite verse was Psalms 118:24 “This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. She loved visits from all of her grandchildren and holding the great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at LaFayette Congregational Christian Church, 191 West Main Street, LaFayette with Pastor Charles Moeller officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at LaFayette Congregational Christian Church.
