Women's Soccer earns 2-0 NCAA II tournament victory over No. 25 Sewanee (Tenn.)

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over No. 25-ranked Sewanee (Tenn.) in the First Round of the NCAA III Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Records: Ohio Northern (15-5-1 Overall), Sewanee (13-2-4 Overall).
Venue: Alston Parker Watt Field — Lexington, Va.
The Match
Senior Julia Flanagan (Dublin/Watterson) scored just 5:19 into the match off an assist from senior Libby Johnson (Fairfield) to take an early 1-0 lead.
Senior Brianna Gervers (Grand Blanc, Mich.) scored off an assist from junior Rileigh Glassburn (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) in the 74th minute to go up 2-0.
Sophomore Emma Gramke (Dayton/Centerville) had two saves in goal for ONU.
Sewanee out-shot ONU 10-8 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Notables
Ohio Northern is making its seventh NCAA III Tournament appearance.
The Polar Bears are 8-3-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, including a 6-0-1 record in First Round matches.
Northern has now advanced out of the First Round in all seven of its NCAA Tournament appearances.
This was the first meeting between the two teams in the history of Ohio Northern women's soccer.
Senior Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) leads the team with 11 goals to go with 25 points and three assists.
Fifth-year senior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) leads the team with 26 points and eight assists to go along with nine goals.
This is the 37th season of Ohio Northern women's soccer. The Polar Bears are now 443-218-57 all-time in program history.
Second-year head coach Ben Tierney is now 25-14-2 at Ohio Northern.
