Ada wrestlers place 2nd at Cory Duals

RAWSON __ The Ada High School wrestling team began its season with a solid showing at the annual Cory-Rawson Duals event Saturday, December 7.
The Bulldogs went 3-2 in dual meets at the competition to finish in a second-place tie. Archbold won the event at 5-0.
Ada defeated the host Hornets 48-36, whipped Delphos Jefferson 54-18 and handled Ottawa-Glandorf 54-24.
The Bulldogs lost 40-30 to Liberty-Benton, and fell 75-4 to Archbold.
Senior Liam Vieira finished 5-1 on the day to pace Ada. He recorded three pins at the 144 lbs. weight class.
Three other Bulldogs authored 3-1 records at the C-R duals. Senior Landon Simon had two pins in the 215 lbs. division, while junior Silas Riblet posted a pair of pins at 120 lbs. Sophomore Wyatt Fisher added three pins in the 138 lbs. class.
Freshman Ethan Carl went 3-2 at 175/190 lbs. with one pin.
Freshman Scarlett Long registered a 3-2 mark at 113 lbs. Sophomore Layne Simon was 3-3 at 165 lbs. with two pins.
Junior Zaiden Denslow went 2-3 at 126 lbs. Sophomore Easton Lane posted a 2-2 mark at the heavyweight division with one pin.
Overall, Ada went 33-24 in individual matches at the competition.
Ada competes next Saturday at the Lincolnview Invitational.
