Baumgartner wins 100 fly

LIMA - The Ada High School swim teams competed well in the annual 26-team Bluffton Holiday Invitational meet at the Lima YMCA on December 27.

The Bulldogs finished 14th in the combined boys/girls team standings with 114 points. Ottawa-Glandorf won the meet with 552 points. Shawnee was second with 490, followed by St. Marys (389.5), Bryan (347) and Bluffton (286).

The Ada girls came in 10th with 90 points, while O-G won with 287 points. St. Marys was second (230).

Shawnee captured the boys team crown with 322 points, followed by Findlay (266). The Bulldog boys came in 17th with 24 points.

Senior Lily Baumgartner won the 100 butterfly race in 59.2 to pace the Bulldog girls. She finished a whopping 3.59 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Baumgartner captured second in the 200 freestyle (2:01.42). She scored 37 of the 90 Ada girls points.

Ada sophomore Tim Chrissobolis touched sixth in the boys 100 breaststroke (1:09.87) to record the best individual Bulldog male finish.

He also finished eighth in the boys 200 individual medley (2:20.88) to tally all 24 Ada boys points.

Junior Lydia Demascio finished eighth in the girls 200 IM in 2:42.62.

The Bulldog girls 200 medley relay team finished seventh, and the Ada girls relay quartet came in 10th in the 200 free relay.

Demascio, Baumgartner, junior Jordyn Smith and freshman Alivia Montgomery comprised the relay foursomes.

Ada swims at the Jay County meet in Portage, Indiana on Saturday, January 4.
