Maxine R. Combs worked for the Ada Police Department
Maxine R. Combs, age 92, of Ada, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, surrounded by her family.
On January 13, 1932 in Alger, Ohio Maxine was born to the late George and Pearl (Brown) Hicks. Maxine married Hamilton C. Combs, Jr. on June 12, 1953, and he survives in Ada.
Also surviving are her two children: Hamilton “Rick” (Teressa) Combs, III of Dola and Rhonda (Rick) McGinnis of Findlay; six grandchildren: Courtney Combs, Whitney Combs, Caleb (Liz) Combs, Shawn (Ashley) Gibson, Lucas (Tiffany) Gibson and Brittany (Eric) Keplar; three step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Patty) Hicks of Lima; and two sisters: Marlene Custer of Alger and Carolyn Bush of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Combs; granddaughter, Blythe Combs; and three brothers: Ronald Hicks, Eugene Hicks and Robert Hicks.
Maxine retired from the Ada Police Department, where she worked as the police dispatcher. Maxine was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a Cub Scout leader.
Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Preston Cemetery, Alger with David Holbrook officiating.
